Tottenham vs Arsenal

by Colin on Premier League

What better game than a rival derby between Tottenham and Arsenal for the crown of North London can we ask for as a start of the Premier League weekend! White Hart Lane is going to host this exclusive game in the early English afternoon.

The story says that the first game played between these teams was in November 1887, before Arsenal relocated to the North part of Lonodn. In 1909 already in the official game from the First Division Arsenal recorded 1-0 win against the Spurs. Since then the Gunners have won 74 of these derbies.
When it is up to the Tottenham’s team we should know the names of Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane. The Danish International Eriksen is in top form and he has helped his team to qualify for the Capital One Cup final in the beginning of March on Wembley against Chelsea. He has scored a few amazing free kicks in the last few games and after a difficult start in the English football after his transfer from Ajax last season, Eriksen seems to find his form for the spurs. Harry Kane is a name that we bet you haven’t heard before this season, or at least it was not that popular. The boy is just 21 years old and just signed a new contract for Tottenham, after he demonstrated amazing form this season by scoring 20 goals already. It has to be mentioned that he is not from the players to score time to time, but he does it regularly and against the big teams as well.

In the Premier League, Tottenham are just behind their opponents from Arsenal at the 6th position with 40 points. Mauricio Pochettino’s boys know how much this derby means to the fans and for the confidence of the team. If they manage to win they can go in front of Arsenal in the table.
Arsenal on the other side is in great form. Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil are back in the team after a long time away, because of injuries. However, the most positive thing is that Arsene Wenger may count on almost everyone at the club and only Matheu Debuchy and Mikel Arteta from the first eleven will not be able to take part of the game, because of their injuries. The right back Hector Bellerin is improving with each game and his confidence is growing and the same can be said about the defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin, who is playing very well after he was called out from his loan at Charlton Athletic.

The Gunners managed to qualify for the next FA Cup round, after a win at the Amex stadium in Brighton and they have destroyed Aston Villa with 5-0 in Sunday. It was interesting that Alexis Sanchez did not played and he was rested, so this prove that the team is in great form. The Czech International Tomas Rosicky is one of the players who are getting more minutes on the pitch lately and despite that he is already at the age of 34, he is playing like he is 25. It seems that the Czech loves playing against Tottenham, while he has scored two goals in the last games against them in the league. Rosicky was the player who has won the game at White Hart Lane last season after scoring a beautiful goal in the first half.
Tottenham and Arsenal are definitely two of the teams who are going to fight until the end for a place in top 4. The history shows that this is most likely to happen for the Arsenal team, but we can never know what is going to happen with sure and that’s what makes the game so exciting. Both teams are in form and the fans can expect a great show with many goals.
