”The Citizens” took three points at Sunderland in the middle of the week after they were 1-0 down with Connor Wickham’s goal. They did not have to wait long to come back in the game as the goal came from the man in form, Sergio Aguero in the 21st minute (just two minutes after „The Black Cats” have opened the score). In the 39th minute after a brilliant attack Aguero received a pass from Yaya Toure and The Argentinian deflected the ball with a brilliant touch to Jovetic who scored the second goal for Manchester. Pablo Zabaleta added a new goal after the break and Aguero scored for the final 1-4 in the 71st minute. With the new three points City remain at the second position in the table with 30 points after they won their game (0-3) as guest of Southampton who were second by that time. Meanwhile, the Saints lost their visit to Arsenal in the week after a very late goal of Alexis Sanchez and remained on the third position.

The next days look very difficult for Manchester City, not only because their game with Everton, but also they have to face Roma at Stadio Olimpico for the decisive game in group E from the Champions League. The Blues took their first victory against Bayern Munich at the Etihad after a lot of drama with red cards and late goals from Kun Aguero just to complete his hat-trick and to win the three points for his team.

Everton are not enjoying the season they were expecting. After Roberto Martinez took the team last year the fans were very positive. He brought in players like Romelu Lukaku who was first on loan, but bought in the summer for the club-record £28 million. This transfer seems to pay off after the Belgian has scored 6 goals in his last 10 Premier League games. Everton are performing very well in another competition this season, the Europa League. The team has secured their place in the knock out stage after they’ve won their last game against VFL Wolfsburg in Germany. Volfsburg was the team to miss plenty of chances, possessed the ball most of the time, but „The Toffees” were very patient and hit on counter- attacking with a remarkable efficiency. Romelu Lukaku scored the first goal and he gave a brilliant pass to Kevin Mirallas to finish the Belgium combination. Although after this game Everton lost at White Hart Lane and missed another two points at home against Hull City on Wednesday night. Everton started the game well and the men in form Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku produced the first goal in the game. Unfortunately for Everton they were hit by their own weapon in the second half. Sone Aluko appeared on the pitch as a substitution and equalized the score for the final result 1-1 after Hull’s first shot in the game.

Manchester City and Everton played more than 100 games against each other in the English football elite (Premier League and The Old First Division). The Blues have won 65 times against Everton, lost 66 games, and they finished draw 43 times. ”The Toffees” are playing better against City at their home ground Goodison Park and even after the arrival of Sheikh Mansour and his millions to the blue side of Manchester, Everton remains very inconvenient opponent for „The Citizens”.
