Both teams won their games in the Champions League, Chelsea saving away 1-0 win against Sporting and Arsenal crushing Galatasaray 4-1 at home. Both teams demonstrated good form and the new Arsenal signing Danny Wellbeck nailed a hat-trick in the Muslera’s net.

Cesc Fabregas

This is going to be the third derby between Mourinho and Wenger since the Portugal returned to the Stamford Bridge. Last year clash at the Blues stadium turned to be a disaster for the Gunners as they recorded a 6-0 loss. It has been 18 years since Arsene Wenger was appointed as Arsenal manager and his games with Jose Mourinho always turned to be very difficult.

Arsenal culled by injuries

This year things don’t look any more optimistic because of the amount of injured players Wenger has to deal with. Mikel Arteta, Aron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Theo Walcott, who is expected to join the team’s full trainings soon, and of course Olivier Giroud and Matheu Debuchy who are recovering from surgeries. Despite this Arsenal still has players like Mesut Özil, Alexis Sanchez and the flourishing Danny Wellbeck who has to prove the fans that he can score in the big games.

The Blues in full health

On the other side of the field will be Chelsea – free from health problems and with their new signing, the former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who is going to face his old club for first time since he left. Diego Costa is the Blues’ top goal scorer this season but he also has much to prove to his manager and to the fans.

Both teams are optimistic about the game. Arsenal fans hope their team will not repeat the last season fail and Jose Mourinho is self-confident as always. One, he holds a home record and two, his advantage against Arsene Weneger’s Arsenal is undisputable.

There is no place for underestimation. One thing we know for sure – these teams are going to present great football and emotions.
