The most exciting game this weekend in the Premier League with no doubt will be the clash of Arsenal and Manchester United. The Red Devils will travel to Emirates Stadium in North London for a Saturday game.
Both teams are under big pressure while not performing well from the beginning of the season.

These Premier League „Giants” occupy the sixth and the seventh position in the table. It strongly disappoints fans of both sides.

New old Man Utd

After Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United entered new era. It started with the appointment of David Moyes who was sacked just few games before the end of last season because of poor results. In the summer, after the World Cup, Louis van Gaal arrived on Old Trafford with the hope to lead the club to new heights in the football game. The legendary Dutch manager brought new faces to the team such as Angel Di Maria (record transfer for the English football), Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and the Colombian superstar Radamel Falcao who came to Manchester on loan from Monaco with a „to buy” option. In total this cost United £150 million. Has this brought any good? So far no. David Moyes having spent much less money had more points at the same stage of the season a year ago.

Old new Gunners

On the other side of the pitch Arsene Wenger was given £100 million for transfers for the first time, after the new Emirates stadium was completely paid off. The Frenchman brought in Calum Chambers from Southampton, Matheu Debuchy who came as a replacement of Bacary Sagna who left to Manchester City and the Barcelona superstar Alexis Sanchez. After Olivier Giroud injury on Goodison Park in the 2-2 draw with Everton, Wenger was forced to look for a new striker in the last minutes of the summer transfer window. Few hours before the deadline the drama was full with Radamel Falcao arriving on Old Trafford and sitting long negotiations on the table with his agent and The Red Devils. Arsene Wenger used the situation and went for the only left product of the United Academy and English striker Danny Welbeck. Just few minutes before the closing both transfers were announced. Sir Alex Ferguson must have gone mad because of this transfer, but two seasons earlier he did the same thing to Wenger by signing Gunners’ ex captain Robin van Persie.

Classic clash

Manchester United won 7 out of their last 10 games against Arsenal and lost only once in 2011 in London. Now United takes the 7th position with 16 points, 4 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses. The team did not succeed to qualify for UEFA Champions League last season and it has one competition less to be involved in. Even though, the team cannot find its form so far and the biggest problem seems to be the defence. The game with Leicester City early this season seemed to be a „Welcome to the Premier League” to Louis van Gaal. He put all efforts in the attack which gave result just partially because in the end United lost this game with 5-3. This indicated to van Gaal that Premier League is very though and that the balance between attack and defence is of great importance.

Health crisis at Old Trafford

Just before the Arsenal game Louis van Gaal is facing many injuries in his team. The Dutchman won’t be able to use Daley Blind who is reported to have a knee injury, Jonny Evans, Phill Jones, Jesse Lingard and the winger Ashley Young. Under question for the game are Rafael and Radamel Falcao. The goalkeeper David de Gea will have to pass late medicals for the game as well.
Arsenal enters the game on the 6th position and just a point ahead of Manchester United. Arsene Wenger also have to deal with many injured players. Mesut Ozil will probably be back not earlier than the beginning of the New Year, the center back Laurent Koscielny is still not fully recovered and Matheu Debuchy is expected to return next month. Good news are that Olivier Giroud is recovered earlier than expected after the surgery and Theo Walcott is almost ready to play as well. The captain Mikel Arteta is also recovered and he gave an interview saying: „Win over Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund can turn our season and bring us on the right way again.”

Two great managers

Arsene Wenger is going to face Louis van Gaal as United manager for the first time after he joined the club in the summer. Both teams know how important this game can be for the rest of the season and they will throw their best to win. Arsenal fans were not so excited to sign Danny Welbeck as the United fans were exalted after the signing of Falcao on Old Trafford, but so far Danny Welbeck scored more goals than the Colombian and he was much more efficient for The Gunners than the Colombian for United.
